What I’ve Learned from 25 Years of Teaching Arabic

Over the past two and a half decades, I’ve had the privilege of working with learners from all walks of life, from curious expats and international students to high-level professionals. One thing I’ve learned is that no two learners are alike. People come with different goals, backgrounds, and learning styles, and the best teaching approach is always the one that adapts to the individual.
Another lesson that stands out is the importance of confidence. Most learners don’t struggle because Arabic is "too hard" but because they’re afraid to speak it. Creating a safe, supportive space where students feel comfortable trying, making mistakes, and laughing along the way has been key to real progress.
Lastly, I’ve seen firsthand how language can transform lives. Whether it’s helping someone communicate better at work, feel at home in a new country, or connect more deeply with culture, the ability to speak Arabic opens doors in meaningful ways. It’s why I keep doing what I do.
